The growing Oasis legend began as a personal journey.

20-something Brooke Phillips-Pyfrom, manager of a family-owned outdoor furniture company, had purchased her first home, a small condo, when she realized she had to go abroad to find the kind of furniture and home décor accessories she wanted.

Contemporary, but natural. Earthy. Stylish. A look and feel of authenticity.

An LED bulb went off. There must be a lot more people just like her.

She spent the next two years creating an indoor Oasis building on the solid reputation of the Oasis outdoor furniture company.

She traipsed across continents from North Africa to the Far East. She roamed large markets and tiny villages. In one remote corner of Vietnam, she met a woman who thought she was a china doll and motioned, asking if she could touch her face. It would be one of a hundred memories Brooke would collect as she continued her hunt for the well-crafted.

In some cases, finding a craftsman whose work she admired, she would draw or describe what she wanted the individual to create. They would work together on the design and by the time Brooke moved on by mule or donkey, truck, trolley or driver, she would have left behind an order and funds for a copper-lined hanging fixture, a 6-foot planter, a leather rug, carved table or bamboo panel.

Since opening in February 2017, Oasis has been the go-to furniture and home décor store for The Bahamas serving Old Fort Bay, Lyford Cay, Ocean Club Estates, Palm Cay, Sandyport, Port New Providence, Albany, ONE Cable Beach and private homes on several islands including Eleuthera, Exuma and Abaco as well as throughout New Providence.
